Kingston Beach, Blackmans Bay,Tinderbox and Golf at Kingston Beach Golf Club

15th Feb 2023

It is time to resume the golf competition and we have booked a tee time at Kingston Beach Golf course for 12.40pm. To fill in the morning we drive down to the area to have a look around, as it is not an area we are familiar with.

Kingston Beach turns out to be a very nice spot. We park at the Southern end of the beach in the sailing club carpark and go for a morning walk.

We drove on from Kingston Beach, through Blackman's Bay to an area called Tinderbox on which there is a headland that overlooks Bruny Island.

Along the way we saw one of many echidnas crossing the road and heading bush

On reaching the headland we arrived at Piersons Point Reserve, the site of Fort Pierson, a fort and gun emplacement built to defend Tasmania in WW2.

It was time to head off to the golf course for our scheduled game at 12.40pm. The normal mens competition is on today, so we are the first group after the comp. The course looks in very good condition, overlooking the water and reasonably flat.

We immediately discover that the greens are very slippery, but very much enjoy the course which is in good condition and challenging. Once again the competition is close, with Carole finishing 1 point ahead after I had an extra putt on the 18th. She is now 1 point ahead leading into the next game.

Residential homes line the course, but there is a creek between the houses and the course

There is a steep climb back up to the 18th tee, so a motorised inclinator is provided

By the time we got home and had a shower we weren't too interested in straying too far for dinner. We ended up wandering down to the Customs House Hotel where we had quite a good meal.
